Allendale Golf Club
Case Study
In order to reduce their carbon footprint and increase the energy efficiency of their clubhouse, Allendale Golf Club commissioned an independent feasibility study which recommended that a wind turbine be installed to generate the required amount of electricity through renewable energy sources. Although the club is a private members club, the numbers of people attracted by the social activities outnumber the golf players by 4:1, and it has a wide programme of activities and welcomes young people, local schools and community groups to the facility.

The club currently consumes 12,147kWh, and a 6Kw wind turbine will generate around 8,500kWh. Together with additional thermal insulation, the clubhouse hopes to achieve carbon neutral status and as a result, a saving to the club, a potential new revenue stream and an improved facility for members and visitors alike.
